Rules Applying to Race for the Wounded
Rules Applying to Race for the WoundedCompetitors are expected to know and abide by all rules.
Standard NBHA rules apply.
Format will be ½ second splits, 5D format. Youth will be 3D, 1 second format. PeeWee is straight pay given to top 3 (cash and prize). All PeeWee contestants will receive a prize. Any time a contestant crosses the starting line, the time will begin. A contestant will be disqualified should they cross the timer line other than at the beginning and at the end of their pattern.
Draw will be done by random draw. No switching of draw positions. You must run in the position that you were drawn in. We will do our best to accommodate racers within reason. Late entries will be at the bottom of the draw in the order they were received.
A contestant will be disqualified for running out of turn. It is the contestant’s responsibility to know his/her draw position.
A contestant will be given a “no time” for knocking over a barrel, or breaking pattern in any way. Forward motion must occur throughout the entire pattern after crossing the timer line.
If the timer fails, a rider will be given a re-run at the end of the race.
Contestants may ride any horse, regardless of ownership, and may ride as many horses as they choose in a class. However, a horse may not be shown by more than one person in a class, unless the following conditions are met:
a. Both contestants are members of the same immediate family
b. Neither contestant is showing any other horse in that class.
c. In no case will the same horse be run more than twice in the
same class.
Late entries will be taken until draw 25 of the race.
PeeWee may not enter the Open or Youth.
Youth can choose to rollover to Open or run, however decision must be made at time of entry. You cannot change your mind after you have ran in the Youth. NO EXCEPTIONS. ANYONE FOUND TO HAVE DONE SO WILL BE STRIPPED OF ANY PLACEMENTS, PRIZES OR MONIES. YOU WILL BE BANNED FROM FUTURE RFTW RACES.
Absolutely no circling of the barrels will be allowed during competition. If a broken pattern occurs, you may finish the pattern, then leave the arena. Violation of this rule will result in a $50.00 fine. (Fine will be directly put in the donation).
ABSOLUTELY NO ABUSE OF HORSES WILL BE TOLERATED.
Only one horse in the arena at any time during the race.
Riders will enter from the southwest gate into the holding pen, and exit out the northwest gate at the end of their drag. You will NOT be permitted in the holding pen prior to your drag.
Ground conditions will be kept consistent, short drags every 5 horses, with full drags every 50 horses.
Exhibition time limit is 60 seconds. No exceptions. If you go over 60 seconds, there is a $5 fine that will go directly to the donation and fines must be paid before you run in the Open, Youth. This will be strictly enforced.
Payback will be 75% of entry. 100% of added money. Exhibition monies earned are split 50/50 with the racers and the charity. Out of the 25% withheld and the processing fees collected, reimbursement to RFTW for; BBR, PBRIP, BRF and arena donation to the Sheridan County Fair board, the rest will be donated to Miracle Rides. In order to be in compliance with BRF, we must withhold $1 from each run in the Open.
Barrel pattern shall be set as:90 feet between barrels 1 & 2; 100 feet between barrels 2 & 3 and barrels 1 and 3; 60 feet from barrels 1& 2 to timer line, and, if the arena allows, 45 feet from timer line to the gate. Barrels 1 & 2 must be a minimum of 18 feet from the fence and barrel 3 must be at 30 feet from the back fence.
If a barrel is tipped, it must be reset/checked before the next contestant can enter the arena.
No overnight stalling is available on the grounds, however, you are welcome to stay on the grounds overnight, there are not hookups available, portable generators are allowed.
No one is forced to be here and run, if you don’t like the ground, the people, the air, then by all means, don’t enter.
PBRIP: You may apply day of race; HOWEVER, you MUST have a copy of your horse’s papers with you. NO EXCEPTIONS. You can apply for APHA Membership and PBRIP and earn points on the day of the race.BBR Members MUST have their numbers on race day. If you are NOT a BBR member, you can apply that day and earn points.
NO REFUNDS, NO EXCEPTIONS.
Any questions or disputes that may arise during the show, and are not covered by the above rules will be decided by race producer.
